Positive: The Tillary Hotel is very well located on the edge of Brooklyn Heights. The room was spacious and well-designed. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent.
Negative: The hotel looks very tired. The reception staff could have been more welcoming and more helpful in getting online. Having said that, the staff in the (admittedly, basic) coffee shop were very friendly.

Positive: The location was very good, it was a 10 minute walk to a subway station.
Negative: We booked a double room with 2 double beds in it, the room was too small for us as we had 2 large pieces of luggage and had to resort to using a bed to take things and out of one of them. The 1st night the duvet didn't have a cover on it and I had to flip it over so I had the top sheet otherwise would have had the bare duvet on top of me. This was resolved the 2nd night. Also the room didn't have a main light source so in the evenings we only had the lamps which made it quite dark.. it wasn't possible to leave one light on and switch the others off.
Summary: I have stayed in better 4 star hotels.
